An elder of the village donated part of his land to build a school!
November 1, 2009

1SG Nuraga, Dr. Rafi, the land owner, SFC Zaman are looking at the land donated to build new school.
On October 29, Dr. Rafi, Assad, Captain Bassid (Afghanistan Security Guard, ASG), First Sergeant Nuraga (ASG), and Sergeant First Class Zaman (ASG) visited Daman elementary school to talk to the elders of the village to explain the benefits of building new schools. This is a picture of a school site we are helping to build. They currently teach out of 3 worn down tents.
During the conversation, the current owner of the land, which the tent classes are built on, decided to give up a little more space (part of his house) to have us build bigger schools for kids in his village.
The land owner explained to Dr. Rafi that, because he understood the importance of education, he built these tent classrooms himself for kids, and he was happy to give up more land for a bigger school.
Now the new school will have 4 classrooms and an office for teachers. Assad even drew a basic blueprint of the new school on his computer. =)

The land owner is measuring the size of the land to donate.
This project will have to be approved by U.S. Army and it will be U.S. Army paying to build the school.
We, the Project Help Afghanistan, will provide school supplies, clothes, and shoes for the students and some teaching aids for the teachers. This is great! We will be ready by the 3rd week of November and will visit the school to distribute gifts to the students and the teachers. I can hardly wait…..

The new school site.
