Our lovely cake!

Our lovely cake!

I have been in Kuwait for couple days now, waiting for my next flight back to Afghanistan. Last two weeks with my family has been awesome, but flew by too quickly. Ezrina and Charis grew up so much. Ezrina, the older one, is now in the first grade. She brought her progress report while I was there and showed ‘outstanding’ in all subjects. Excellent! =) However, I see Ezrina is having a little difficult time understanding the concept of multiplication yet. Charis attends a pre-school three times a week. I remember her telling us that she did not like school and wanted to stay home with mommy last year, but now she seemed enjoying it very much. =)

I took them to school and brought them back for last two weeks, and it was a joy. We made a vanilla cake together, took lots of pictures and videos, and even had a month early birthday party for Ezrina.

The very last night before I left home, I sat them on my laps and held them with my arms for a prayer; Ezrina started to cry in the middle of the blessing, and Charis repeated ‘don’t go, daddy!’ I had hard time hiding my tears in front of them. They are such a joy to both of us, Mhin and me.

My mom, sister, and her 7 months old infant flew in for a week; it has been couple years since I had seen them. They brought two big luggages full of nothing but Korean snacks and food for us. They knew exactly what I liked and came prepared to cook for me. Thanks to mom, I think I gained at least 5 pounds!!! =) We met Abigail, Cathy’s infant daughter and my one and only niece, for the first time. She was a joy to have around, and we all had a great time with her.

While I was at home, I visited 4 churches and presented 4 power point presentations about the Project Help Afghanistan (PHA). I also showed it to several individuals. They all expressed great interests and wanted to support PHA. I showed lots of pictures and explained how the people of Afghanistan are in great need of our help. Thanks to all the members of congregations of the churches… Thanks you so much…. from the bottom of my heart!!!

The night before I left home, I had a call with Dianne, my dear friend and a supporter to PHA. She told me that she collected 400 pairs of shoes for PHA…. I was stunned. Wow… She is just amazing! She said she has already sent 126 pairs to our clinic in Afghanistan and rest will be mailed out soon. God works miracles every day.

Oh, before I left home, I mailed out the ‘Thank You’ cards to the supporters who provided me their home addresses.

Now that I left home, I can’t wait to get back to Afghanistan and work out rest of the projects.

Thanks to Dr. Rafi and Asad, the Project Afghan Literacy (PAL) second class is going great and rest of the projects will be ready for us to commence when I get there. Great work, guys, and I will see you all very soon.
